Full Restoration of Biedermeier Sofa circa 1830

This exquisite German Biedermeier sofa required extensive restoration to bring it back to its original splendour, a project that Lydia from Clovelly knew was long overdue. Sections of the flame mahogany veneer were missing, the base frame was broken, and one of the armrests had been completely broken in half and poorly repaired in the past. Overall, the sofa was in very poor condition.

The original inner upholstery materials were repaired, cleaned and reused. Lydia chose a plain linen fabric from our studio range, allowing the beautiful flame mahogany veneer to remain the feature rather than the fabric itself.

After many hours of careful restoration, traditional French polishing and re-upholstery, this beautiful sofa was returned to its former glory. Lydia was delighted with the finished result and more than pleased with the quality of our workmanship.
